Although the existence of the site has been known for many years its iminent destruction bya housing development prompted salvage excavations in 1969 and the complete exvacation of the village by a joint National Museum of Man and Royal Ontario Museum expedition in 1971. Built by the ancestors of the historic Huron and Petun, the village consisted of 12 longhouses, 11 of which were surrounded by a double stockade. More than one ton of material, mainly pottery fragments, was recovered.”Ex library copy with all the usual marks
